Anna and Ben at the end of a Harvest Day

I'm updating this blog on the advice of Tom Smith. He suggests (and I agree) that I need to add more text to my photos. He's a big fan of the site, maybe the only one, so I'm following his advice. Tom, if you're reading this, thanks. Sorry it took me so long. If there are more fans reading this site, then scroll down as there will be more information for each of the pictures.

This is a photo of me and Anna after a long day, I believe the first full day of wheat harvest in June 2005.

Dave's Tractor and Grain Cart

This is Dave on his tractor with the grain cart in the summer of '05. The Penner family has come a long way as far as farm equipment goes since I was in High School. Dave is driving a 1983 model (incidentally the same year Dave was born) John Deere 8650. It has a/c, a radio, and a power-shift quad range transmission. This is really nice. Those of you reading that have a farm background will recognize this. Dave is probably one of the coolest, most well-read grain-cart and combine operators on the Kansas Prairie, a true renaissance man.

Anna's Tractor

I know I just called this Dave's tractor in a previous post, but truth be known, Anna and Dave actually shared the tractor. Anna demonstrated considerable skill by tackling the shifting and unloading process on this tractor with minimal training. Welcome to the Penner family Anna!

Penner Family Harvest Crew 2005

This is a picture of all of us on the last day of harvest, in the last field.

Unloading Wheat into the Bin

Every year, we load as much wheat as we can from our own land into a couple of our bins.
